I think the problem your having is related to your image not hosted.
If you use dropbox then you wont have a problem. you just need to share the link.

I suspect that your trying to share an image from your computer. That wont work.Unless you share it via dropbox or some thing similar. Basically storing your image on the cloud as such.

dropbox is free for 2 gigs worth....Thats a lot of space.
once you get the hang of dropbox you could share things with who ever you want.
