Buying physical gold

It depends where you live. I have used www.atsbullion.com before. They have an office in the Strand which is convenient to me. You have to may some margin. The higher the price the smaller the margin

The problem I am seeing is, the price of 1 Oz gold bar is around 890£ in both websites...
if I convert that to $, with current rate 1.542857142857143, it give me 1374$ /Oz.

But the current value as I type this is 1297$/Oz.
Is there anyway or place I can get the physical gold for closer to the spot price of the gold ?

Yep it is a rip off. Selling back to them will incur another 2% margin. You can always try private sellers on ebay. However your will be open to fraud. The smaller the margin, the bigger the risk.

For pure investment, I deal in paper gold (PHGP) ETFs It is no where near as fun as handling real gold but the slippage is much smaller. I find them ideal for trading.
